GREGORY RODRIGUEZ – PLEIN AIR PAINTER - STOUGHTON, WI

Artist and Plein-Air painter, Gregory Rodriguez has lived in Stoughton for eleven years. Stoughton’s small town appeal and rural scenes have been Mr. Rodriguez’s subject for years.

While many small towns race toward change, Stoughton sustains its nostalgic charms. Stoughton’s vintage train depot, grand clock tower, and opera house welcome you in. Following Main Street over the Yahara River bridge will lead you to many Victorian homes truly torn from Norman Rockwell’s canvases. Within minutes of town, the countryside is filled with horses, cattle, sheep, wild turkeys and sand hill cranes.

Easel and tote bag in hand, Mr. Rodriguez can be seen along Dane County’s numerous rustic roads. Inspired by the many pastoral and panoramic scenes that are Wisconsin, Mr. Rodriguez’s technique is direct and impressionistic, which allows for spontaneous and fresh paintings.

The 2010 series of paintings were titled “Be still and know”, scripture verse in part, this also describes Mr. Rodriguez’s sense of being.

Gregory Rodriguez has exhibited his artwork throughout the state and around the country to groups like the Oil and Acrylic Painters of America, National Oil Painters of America and the plein-air competition in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, etc.

Mr. Rodriguez enjoys painting and teaching, and will be looking for interested students for classes and workshops. In addition, Mr. Rodriguez is looking for other plein-air painters in the area for possible painting trips and get-togethers. GAIL RING - COLORED PENCIL DRAWING - STOUGHTON, WI

Gail has been a joy to work with these past 3 years and has many of her works on display in the Upper Room Gallery, including originals, prints, and note cards.   Gail worked as a commercial artist for 26 years and has a Art Degree from UW-Madison, and a Commercial Art Degree from MATC.   Gail works in Ink, Pastels, Colored Pencil and Water Color.
