2025 Road Construction Update
From the East or South
RECALCULATING... We wanted to alert all our customers that come from the east or southeast - any city on the I-90 corridor like Janesville, Beloit, Rockford and beyond - about a local shortcut to get to downtown Stoughton from those directions/areas. The WISDOT currently routes traffic all the way north to the Madison beltline (Hwy12/18), and then south on Hwy 51 through McFarland to get to Stoughton after a 17-mile detour! This is for truck purposes.
GREAT NEWS! Save 16.5 miles of detour and take HWY 51 exit as you normally would. Then follow the tiny detour shown to the right (Racetrack Road to Academy, to Dunkirk which becomes South, then a right on 4th Street and you are downtown! See attached photo and also trust your GPS. Hopefully by mid-October, the DOT will be done with this phase of road construction. There will be some form of road construction in our area the next couple summers, so stay tuned for more updates.
From the North or West
FINDING DIAKONOS DESIGNS IS EASY - Most of our customers come from the west and the north (Madison, McFarland, Oregon, etc) and you can easily get to our studio like always.
There is one detour sign at HWY 51 and Van Buren, but there is also a sign that says "Downtown Stoughton Open ahead", so trust that sign and continue forward as normal.

Our Team
Located in a spacious retail studio* in South Central Wisconsin, inside a 158 year old historic building, Diakonos Designs is an assembly of artists that seek to glorify God with their work. At the core of this group is the Guzman family and founder Becky Guzman. We have also been blessed with several dozen volunteers and supporters, past and present, to whom we collectively give thanks for their time and treasure.

Our Mission
Diakonos Designs is dedicated to creating jewelry that make a unique faith statement. Our designs feature handmade clay focals and/or hand stamped metal and leather elements - combined with unique and ancient beads from around the world. Many of our beads and natural stones have biblical symbolism. Ephesians 2:10 notes that each of us is like a poem or handmade creation that is especially created by God for His specific purposes on earth. In the same way, each piece of jewelry is unique and specially created for a specific purpose.
Diakonos Designs derives its name from the Greek word "diakonos," (pronounced 'dee-ak'-on-os') which means "servant of a king." It embodies the intention to serve others with beautiful jewelry that can inspire the wearer and create opportunities to talk about their faith.
